Postwink has hit the ground running and we are really excited about doing even more in 2012 to establish a culture of recycling through the distribution of our quality, easy-to-use products.
To kick-start the year, we exhibited at the Spar AGM for the Western Cape (including Namibia) and had a great response – one of our recycling trolleys is now in use at the Sea Point Superspar and we’re sending our first Postwink product out of the country to the Gobabis Spar in Namibia. Our neighbour at the exhibition was Interwaste, the Spar-contracted waste management company, which will be disposing of the recyclables collected in our bins.
On 23 January, Postwink joined approximately 600 Eskom staff members at the company’s Zero-Harm conference at Mutual Park in Pinelands. The event focused on safety, wellness and the environment and gave us an excellent opportunity to educate delegates about the benefits and how-to of recycling.
The following day, Postwink attended UNISA’s Recycling Day at its Pretoria campus. Here, we teamed up with Sonja van Wyk from The Recycling Warehouse, an exciting new initiative currently under construction in Voortrekker Road, Pretoria. Fantastic news is that Postwink samples will be displayed and sold at the warehouse when it opens its doors in March. The recycling day (which was also supported by Oricol Environmental Services, The Waste Group, Mondi Recycling and Collect-a-Can) yielded a great deal of interest in our products, with many recognising our leather-touch 3-compartment bins, hole-top stainless steel bins, and large igloos from those already located on campus.
February got off to a flying start with the official launch of Sanlam’s 3-month pilot recycling project at its head office in Bellville. Sixteen Postwink black leather-touch recycling bins will be situated in selected departments for the duration of this exciting venture.
Finally, while many hotels are recycling behind the scenes, the five-star Sheraton Hotel in Pretoria is setting a new standard for recycling with specially designed, 4-compartment bins, which are to be placed in each hotel room to encourage guests to separate waste. Postwink recently received an order for these compact bins, produced from RPET fabric, which is made up of 100% recycled PET – the plastic used for beverage containers.
